About Our Celebration

Annual celebration of Pebble’s decades-long friendship with and support for a Nicaraguan community.  Every year Pebble volunteers take our donations to them in person.

For the first time in decades, Carolyn Penta will miss the trip.  Michael Sturgeon will keep up the tradition, which began in the mid-1980s in combination with Witness for Peace, at the height of the CIA-instigated Contra War, as a way to shield vulnerable communities with an American presence.  The people we assisted eventually fled to the jungle to farm and start over.

Our aid has helped, but they still need donations of toothpaste & toothbrushes, beading supplies – beads, heading cord or thread—school supplies – pencils, pens, erasable markers, scissors, etc. (no paper, which is bought in Nicaragua), summer clothing (a separate email with types of clothing will be sent out), and Financial contributions.  PLEASE BRING DONATIONS TO PEBBLE FOR COLLECTION ON THE 16TH AND FOLLOWING SUNDAYS.
