About Our Celebration

Rev. Deva, Pebble music minister, and Rev. Rhetta, a singing healer, have come together to bring a special musical edge to this year’s MLK Jr. celebration.  Rev. Rhetta, who is also a spiritual activist, and interfaith minister, works at the intersection of spirituality, activism, and creativity, with an intention to create a more just world. She was an international professional singer for many years before becoming an ordained Interfaith minister at One Spirit Interfaith Seminary in NY in 2009.

Rev. Rhetta founded: Ecclesia Spirit (an inclusive, interfaith spiritual community), the While We Wait Project (which provides spiritual and emotional support to loved ones of incarcerated individuals), and the Choir for Climate Change (a choir for activists at every level of organizing and vocal capabilities). She is currently co-facilitator of Beyond the Call, Cultivating Prophetic Ministry, a continuing education program for Universalist Unitarian ministers, and has created Ritual for Change Makers, an eight month program for activists of all kinds.  Also, she is a board member of the Quaker activist organization, EQAT.  Rev. Rhetta is very active in the Philadelphia area, using music she writes and sings to inspire and heal.  Some of her most meaningful work is in mentoring and counseling activist leaders.
