Dear Ones,
Arrows is supporting a project for which we have an urgent appeal. We are collaborating with OLCERI (Oglala Lakota Cultural and Economic Revitalization Initiative), an organization on Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota, which runs several projects to benefit the Native people. The most immediate priority they have identified is the Legacy Horse Program, which cares for rescued horses – many of which are descended from Crazy Horse’s horses. As we witnessed first-hand, Pine Ridge suffered a severe drought this summer, which meant little green grass for animals to eat. Now winter is fast approaching and hay needs to be harvested, using a bailer with high fuel costs. The Native tribes of the Plains have a strong cultural connection with horses – take a look at their faces.
If you love horses or animals or people with whom they abide, please consider a donation. Native peoples of the Plains and horses have a strong cultural connection – take a look at their faces. There are two ways to donate that will reach the Legacy Horse Program, both of which are tax-deductible.
- Donate directly to OLCERI via their website: https://www.olceri.org/home-sponsorship
- Donate to ARROWS, knowing that this project is our top priority at this time. https://www.arrows4americanindians.org/donate/
If you donate through OLCERI, we appreciate if you can make a note that you learned of this appeal through Arrows and/or let me know directly, so we can learn how much we have raised.
Wanishi! (thank you in the Lenape language)
