Hello Pebble peeps!

As part of an ongoing intention to offer prayers at the “wounded places” of our country, I’m organizing a little prayer ceremony at Carlisle, PA, site of the infamous Indian boarding school. The details are below:

NOV. 2 All Souls Day. ROAD TRIP AND PRAYERS, site of INDIAN BOARDING SCHOOL, Carlisle, PA.
Background: “Indian boarding schools” are a sad part of our nation’s history. They were created to indoctrinate Native Americans with white language, culture, and customs while removing all traces of their indigenous heritage. Children were forced from their homes. Many of the staff were greatly abusive. The food was poor and insufficient and hard physical labor was expected. In addition, it was a hotbed for disease which ran through the student body. Many children and teens died as a result of all the above.
Carlisle, PA was the site of the largest of these schools. The founder used as his infamous motto: “Kill the Indian, save the man.”

Details for this journey: We will meet the morning of Saturday, Nov. 2 at 9:00 a.m. at the parking lot at 611 and County Line in order to carpool. There is an Aldi there, The Edge Fitness Club, and a Burger King. There’s plenty of parking around The Edge. We will leave promptly by 9:15. (Look for my forest green VW Jetta near the back of the lot.) From there, we’ll drive to Carlisle, approx. 2 hours away, visit the grounds, and do a prayer ceremony at the cemetery where 186 children and teens are buried. At some point we will have lunch together to ground ourselves and reflect on the morning, and then we’ll drive back to Bucks County.

Please feel free to bring sage, tobacco, or some other offering.

If this calls to you, my request is that you do as much research this week as you can prior to Saturday. Also, please hold the day and the People in prayer all during the week. Let Cindy know if you plan to come. You can text her or email her. Cell: 530-771-7565 or cynthiagreb@gmail.com.

With blessings, in peace,
Cynthia
