Thich Nhat Hanh was a beloved Zen Master and Buddhist teacher of mindfulness. He died at age 95 in Vietnam, the country of his birth.
“Thay” (pronounced Ty) means “teacher”, and this is how he was affectionately addressed by students and all who loved him.
Thay spent his life as a monk, a teacher, a prolific author, a founder of monastic and educational centers, and always an activist for peace.
This Sunday the Pebble Hill Church community will honor Thay, using his words and our own. We will share his writings and stories about his life, and we will experience a meditation with Tibetan singing bowls. We will hear the Buddhist meditation on The Five Remembrances followed by the lighting of a Candle of Remembrance, and we will each have the opportunity to light a candle in remembrance.
We hope this will be a meaningful tribute to Thich Nhat Hanh and a meaningful experience for all who are present.
