First Peoples Alliance presents this Celebration dedicated to the original inhabitants of the land that we all call home. Our speakers are:
Chief Barbara Bluejay Michalski was given the name Bluejay by her grandfather, Bill Thompson, late Chief Whippoorwill of the Unalachtigo (people near the ocean) Tribe of the Turkey Clan. She is a member of Lenape Nation of Pennsylvania (LNPA), and she has immersed herself in the activities of the Nation. In October 2022 she was appointed Chief Keeper of Culture. Bluejay serves on the Tribal Council and was the Tribal Secretary until May 2024, when at that time she became Vice President. She is one of the Storytellers of the Nation. She loves to impart Lenape history to children, work to preserve the Earth, learn and teach about traditional medicinal plants, and study the Unami dialect of her people.

JoAnne Wolke is Lakota, a member of Standing Rock Sioux tribe of South Dakota, of the Hunkpapa band. First generation born off the reservation, she is an advocate for indigenous rights and passionate about helping others. JoAnne is a graduate of the School of Sacred Ministries and is an ordained Interfaith Minister.

Dar Khabbaz of Cherokee descent and studied with a Lakota shaman. He was involved with Pebble Hill for decades and his mother offered sweat lodges.
Our Celebration starts at 10:30 pm. The program will be followed by our beloved Peace Soup Sunday. This will feature songs by Barb Weikamp and JoAnne Wolke, with donations to benefit First Peoples Alliance to ship the latest clothing donations to the groups that they support. Chief Bluejay will have books for sale, including her collection of Lenape stories.
The Garden Dedication/Work Party is postponed due to rainy weather and soggy ground. Please stay tuned for the new date.
