Dar Khabbaz to speak.

Rev. Larry Hall will lead.

Dar says, “I do not represent or speak for anyone but myself and am not an enrolled member of any federally recognized tribe. That being said, I grew up being told I was part Cherokee. At 18, I started visiting a reservation in south Dakota to learn about and participate in native tradition and ceremony. 40 years later, I am still involved with native tradition, ceremony, and adopted family. All this has made me the person I am today.”

Dar points out that historically native tribes have been hit harder by epidemics than the larger population.  He says this has been true with smallpox, the Spanish flu, and covid 19 to name a few notables. There are a number of reasons for this that can be discussed. He also may steer more toward general philosophy as it relates to everyday life as well as dealing with crisis situations like covid 19.

Celebration starts at 10:30 a.m.  We are continuing virtual celebrations through July.
