Mike Sturgeon announces the opening of Pebble’s February art exhibit this Sunday after church with photos of our Nicaraguan family that are “just incredible.” Plus, cake and guacamole dip! “It’s gonna be magnificent if I do say so myself,” he says. The collection features ten years of pictures taken by Pebble visitors to the remote homestead the family carved out of the wilderness following the Contra War of the 1980s. Our involvement came through association with Witness for Peace, a faith-based, nonviolent group that supported Nicaraguans being threatened by the CIA-backed Contra guerillas.
Through the decades, someone has always taken the lead to maintain Pebble’s relationship with our extended family by delivering our donations to Nicaragua in person. This year, Carolyn Penta will be unable for the first time in decades to make the trip, but Mike accompanied her for several years and will continue the tradition.
So, don’t just eat cake and guacamole–buy prints of these fabulous pictures and help make our support possible!
