We are living at a time when People of Color, our LGBTQ sisters and brothers, our immigrant neighbors and anyone who is not white and Christian is feeling threatened by the actions and words of the current Administration. How can we be more aware and sensitive neighbors/citizens? Do we know when and how we should intervene when we see or hear a racial injustice? Can we, as caregivers or teachers of young people, better understand how we can be of support?
Let’s join with Barbara Simmons to explore our advantages and learn how to use them to help those who don’t have them.

Barbara Simmons is the executive director of The Peace Center, serving for more than 30 years. She recently ‘unretired’ to return to the nonprofit educational organization. She is a Mediator, Facilitator, Educator and Community Organizer.
The Peace Center has worked for decades to create and implement programs focused on the prevention, intervention and tertiary aspects of violence, conflict, racism and bigotry in schools, businesses and communities. Simmons has been involved with coalition-building with other important organizations and served on the Pennsylvania Attorney General Task Force and Bucks County Violence Prevention Task Force, the ADR (Alternative Dispute Resolution) of the Bar Association. Since The Peace Center views violence as a public health issue related to the cycle of trauma, it is only through working together as a community we can address it
effectively.
