Thomas Phillip Heitzenrater, 70, of North Wales, Pennsylvania died on November 9, 2025 at Abington Hospital. Born on July 25, 1955 at Franklin Hospital in Franklin, Pennsylvania, he lived in western Pennsylvania until 1963, when he and his family moved to Warminster.  Tom attended school in the Centennial school district, graduating from William Tennent High School, Class of 1973.  Upon graduation, he attended Pennsylvania State University, where he majored in political science.  After moving to Silver Springs, MD, he subsequently settled back in southeastern Pennsylvania’s Delaware Valley.

A stalwart social activist, Tom spent years engaged with groups such as The Doylestown Peace Force and The Pennsylvania Campaign for a Nuclear Weapons Freeze.  In the mid 1990’s, he created, produced, and hosted the local access cable television variety show “Nothing, Really’.   The show ran for several years, showcasing a wide array of regional politicians, musicians, artists, and celebrities. In 2002, he ran on the Green Party ticket for the Pennsylvania state legislature’s 144th district.  He was known by friends, family, and colleagues alike for his strong will, gentle nature, sharp banter, and relentless sense of humor.  A true communicator, Tom Heitzenrater will be remembered for his kindness, his conversation, and his council.  His warmth, charisma, and humor were some of his greatest gifts, and conversations with Tom about the Philadelphia team sports were never just small talk.

He is pre-deceased by his mother, Martha Holt, and father, Robert Heitzenrater.  He is survived by his loving and devoted son, Alex and his wife Kayt, sister, Mary, brothers, Dan and his wife Nancy, and, Larry and his wife Jackie, as well as several nieces, a nephew, and many friends.  He will be sorely missed by those who knew and loved him.

A Celebration of Tom’s Life will be held on November 22nd at 3:00 pm at Pebble Hill Church, 320 Edison Furlong Rd., Doylestown, PA 18901.
