CORONOVIRUS TIP: SAVE YOUR HUGS FOR SUMMER!
Thanks to Bill Mettler for this info!
We feel it is prudent to prepare for the eventuality that the novel coronavirus / COVID-19 may come to the Delaware Valley or may already be here. The CDC and other medical associations have provided practical guidance to prevent or delay introduction of the virus into our community.
Please try to comply with these measures to maintain a healthy environment for all of us in the coming months.”
Folks who have recently traveled to New York, Rhode Island, California, Oregon, Florida, Washington State, Illinois, Hawaii, Italy, Iran, South Korea, Japan or China are at higher risk for having contracted the COVID-19 virus and may wish to limit contact with groups. Early data seems to indicate that the vast majority of Coronavirus infections have mild symptoms (therefore difficult to determine if you’ve been exposed).
The patients most likely to die or become severely ill are the same populations susceptible to bad reactions from the flu, i.e. older people and those with suppressed immune systems or chronic cardiovascular or respiratory conditions. Therefore, people who are more at risk need to be especially careful about participating in group activities, that involve human contact.
The number one precaution everyone should take to diminish the spread of the virus is the thorough and frequent washing of hands. Wash your hands for 30 seconds or more with hot water and soap prior to eating, after using the restroom and after being out in public.
Don’t attend group activities when you feel sick.
Have a single person write down the names of volunteers. See https://docs.google.com/document/d/12aqvXpFAUHR9bThnkwhk6E__yQEuoTpYpQ-NM1HZeCU rather than passing around a sign-up sheet.
No more hugging / Avoid physical contact. (very tough for Pebble)
Wipe down objects (computers, clipboards, pens, pencils) with Clorox wipes before you use them.
Wipe your hands with Purell when you arrive at and when you leave public events.
Put napkins, dish towels and other textiles into the washing machine after touching them even once.
Don’t share coats, clothing, cups, etc.
Try to use only your own equipment and maintain its cleanliness frequently wiping it down with Clorox wipes. (we’re all going OCD!)
Take special care in preparing and serving food for PEACE SOUP SUNDAY!
